Walking in Turraun
Turraun is situated off the R357 Boora road, which links Cloghan village to the Tullamore road (N52) at Blue Ball.

Turraun is accessed, by turning north along the gravel road beside Boora Church which is opposite the turnoff to The Boora Works and Lough Boora site. The access route continues on through the site and into Pollagh village. Do not cross the canal. Taking the Rahan road out of the village and the first right off this road will take you back onto the R357.

Turraun Walk

Beginning in the northern most car park on the Pollagh side of the Turraun Wetland, follow the gravel road toward Pollagh (north east) for approximately 200 m. Turn east (right) down the gravel path that leads off the access road. After approximately 25 m you will come to a fork in the path by an information board, take the left-hand path, the right leads to the Turraun bird hide. After a short distance the path turns sharply to the north west (left) in front of a high clay bank.

Turraun Lagoon

This short circular walk begins in the southern most car park situated on the eastern shore of Loch Turraun. Take the path that runs west along the raised embankment between Loch Turraun and Turraun Lagoon. After crossing the two wooden bridges, the path turns north, running parallel to the western edge of the lagoon, and then swings east toward the gravel road that will lead you back to your start point
